Jericho pinned “Hangman” Adam Page after hitting the Judas Effect to become the first All Elite Wrestling world champion with a win in the main event of the All Out pay-per-view at the Sears Centre in Chicago on Sunday. The victory means the 48-year-old Jericho will be the face of the new wrestling company when it begins its weekly television on TNT on Oct. 2. He last wrestled on the network for WCW, for whom he never become world champion, in 1999. The match capped an eventful All Out, that was not as good as Double or Nothing in May. ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico coach Bob Davie was taken by ambulance to a hospital Saturday night after “a serious medical incident” moments after his team’s win against Sam Houston State. Athletic director Eddie Nunez made the announcement after the Lobos won 39-31 at home. According to the Albuquerque Journal, the 64-year-old Davie several times during the game could be seen with his hands on his midsection and chest. At one point, Davie kneeled down during the action. Davie’s wife, Joanne Davie, was seen in the ambulance’s front seat as it left for nearby University of New Mexico Hospital. Nunez said the university will release more information as it becomes available. “We ask that you keep the Davie family in your prayers,” Nunez said. Davie is a former Notre Dame coach who is in his eighth season leading the New Mexico program. Nick Kyrgios mocked ESPN’s pre-match/post-match interviewer Tom Rinaldi hours before his Saturday night match on Ashe Stadium vs. surprising Andrey Rublev. “Who the hell is Tom Rinaldi and why he is commentating a tennis match when he has no idea what’s going on,” Kyrgios tweeted. LYNCHBURG, Va. — Abdul Adams, Jarveon Howard and Moe Neal ran for touchdowns and No. 22 Syracuse spoiled a most unusual debut for Hugh Freeze as Liberty’s coach with a 24-0 victory on Saturday night. Still recovering from back surgery for a herniated disk on Aug. 16 and a staph infection, Freeze coached from a hospital bed in the coaching box. The school said he was in communication with his coaches and players during the game and that the bed was used to support his healing back. American wild-card entry Kristie Ahn shocked Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 7-5 in the third round of the U.S. Open on Saturday. Though Ostapenko flaunted her strong serve with eight aces, it also was the root of her struggles with 12 double faults to Ahn’s three. It was a sloppier match for Ostapenko, who committed 45 unforced errors, but ultimately Ahn managed to outwork her. Ahn, ranked No. 141, took an injury timeout midway through the second set after landing awkwardly on her left knee. Returning to the court with the knee heavily taped, she came back from a 3-2 deficit to take the lead before closing out the match with an ace. Video of the arrest by Hong Kong police of a man who appeared to an American went viral Saturday as social media users publicized the violence that accompanied the 13th week of protests against Chinese overreach in the city. “What charge is this? Otherwise it is unlawful!” shouted the man, wearing a T-shirt and cargo shorts, in one of several videos of his arrest at Lai King subway station during the demonstrations. “This is Hong Kong, this is not China!” he said in a second clip that got wide distribution. There are high expectations for — and a lot of hoopla surrounding — Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+, which is scheduled to launch in November. The Trump administration is likely to continue tightening its sanctions on Russia for its 2014 annexation of Crimea, Energy Secretary Rick Perry said on ­Saturday. Perry spoke with reporters in Warsaw, Poland, after meeting with Polish and Ukrainian officials on a new plan meant to help wean the two Eastern European nations off their reliance on Russian gas supplies. The average American should save more for retirement, and young people need to think about the potential pay of a career — along with the amount of debt an education in that field will incur. Those are some of the conclusions of a new Express Employment Professionals-Harris Poll survey that questioned 1,011 white- and gray-collar workers. (Gray-collar work combines some of the components of manual labor with some aspects of white collar work.) “The majority of the workforces are worried about saving enough for retirement,” according to the survey, which explained why they save too little. “Almost one in three are drowning in debt.” The survey found that 62% of blue-collar workers (questioned in an earlier survey), 45% of gray-collar and 40% of white-collar workers said they have less than $5,000 saved in case of emergency. The last we saw of Alonzo Russell, he was hauling in a touchdown pass from Kyle Lauletta as time expired at Gillette Stadium, and that 14-yard hookup lifted the Giants to a comeback victory over the Patriots to end the preseason.
