Hollywood publicist losing clients over Jeffrey Epstein ties

Hollywood is running closing credits on publicist Peggy Siegal, citing her ties to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

No fewer than three movie or television clients have fired Siegal for her role in raising the profile of the convicted child sex trafficker, according to a story in Monday’s Variety.

The trade publication identified the clients as Netflix, FX Network and Annapurna Pictures, claiming all three dismissed the aggressive publicist after other press accounts detailed her role in getting Epstein into “splashy premieres and parties.”

Those accounts reported that Siegal let Epstein pay for her travel as she orchestrated his invites to A-list events.

Siegal’s access-providing efforts mostly occurred after Epstein got out of the Palm Beach County jail in 2009, after having served 13 months for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

Outrage over Epstein’s sweet prison deal boiled last month after he was charged with sex trafficking by the Manhattan US Attorney.

Siegal has claimed ignorance of Epstein’s past.

“Over the years I invited him to attend a handful of my events,” Siegal said in a statement to The Post. “I did not know at the time — and did not learn until recently — that he had been abusing underage girls.”

“Had I known that he had been accused of abusing underage girls, I would not have maintained a friendship with him. I am horrified as each of these women come forward and the accusations mount,” she said.

The publicist — a potent weapon for decades in stirring up favorable Oscar and Emmy buzz — was axed by Netflix as a consultant for its Emmy strategy and as an event planner for screenings and promotions, Variety said.

FX also stripped Siegal’s company of its assignment for promotional duties and tastemaker events, the trade pub continued.

A third assignment taken from Siegal was tied to the Aug. 12 New York premiere of Annapurna’s “Where’d You Go, Bernadette.”

Review: Animated ‘Chance’ takes on dog fighting with overly earnest yet well-intended spirit

The CG animated feature “Chance” is a well-intended but heavy-handed denunciation of the barbaric blood sport of dog fighting. The title character (voiced by Will Canon) is a dreamer of a pit bull, who believes in a canine god and a peaceful place where “Hatonas” (dogs) can live idyllic lives.... from latimes.com - Los Angeles Times http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-et-mn-mini-chance-review-20190403-story.html>
