Navy SEALs platoon sent back home for drinking during deployment

A platoon of Navy SEALs deployed in Iraq were sent home for boozing on the job, the latest incident to mar the esteemed special operations force, according to a report.

The group from SEAL Team 7 was forced by a Navy commander to return to their San Diego base for violating General Order No. 1, which prohibits alcohol use, according to The Washington Post.

“The Commander lost confidence in the team’s ability to accomplish the mission,” the US Special Operations Command said in a statement.

The command didn’t blame alcohol use for the team’s dismissal, instead saying the group was booted because of “a perceived deterioration of good order and discipline within the team during non-operational periods.”

But two defense officials confirmed with The Washington Post that drinking booze caused the disciplinary action.

Wednesday’s news comes on the heels of the conclusion of a war crime trial where a decorated Navy SEAL, Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, faced murder charges.

Gallagher was ultimately found not guilty of fatally stabbing a teenage ISIS militant in 2017, but was convicted of posing for a photo with the captive’s corpse.

Convicted rapist killer strikes again after getting out of jail

A convicted rapist killer who strangled a teen in 1981 and was suspected of cutting out the eyes out of an earlier victim has been arrested on a new rape charge, six years after he got out of jail.
