Move over, Pinstripes.
The Yankees flaunted their much-anticipated “Savages” T-shirt ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the Diamondbacks.
Inspired by manager Aaron Boone’s epic rant after being ejected from a win earlier this month, the shirt appropriately features the word, “Savages,” in a box, referring to the Yankees’ aggressive mentality at the plate.
“We’re gonna rock it for a while,” Luke Voit said a couple weeks ago.
Omitted from the shirt, of course, are the expletives Boone yelled at the umpire.
“You’re having a piece of s–t start to this game,” Boone said. “I feel bad for you, but f—ing get better. That guy [Rays starter Yonny Chirinos] is a good pitcher, but our guys are f—ing savages in that box. Our guys are savages in the f—ing box. Tighten it up right now, OK?”
Other companies have taken a swing at apparel honoring the Yankees’ new moniker. Voit said Barstool Sports had sent him a design, but it’s unclear if that’s the one he and the Yankees settled on.
