Cop suspended after house hunter uncovers racist memorabilia

A white Michigan cop was put on leave this week after a black family touring his house with a realtor stumbled onto a trove of racist memorabilia — including an “application for citizenship” to the KKK.

“I’m seeing Confederate flags on the walls, the dining room table, and even the garage,” house hunter Rob Mathis said on Facebook. “I’m thinking to myself as a joke I’m walking to the imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan’s house right now. I felt sick to my stomach knowing that I walk to the home of one of the most racist people in Muskegon hiding behind his uniform and possibly harassing people of color and different nationalities.”

“I immediately stopped my walk-through and informed the realtor that I am not writing an offer on this home and I am leaving now,” Mathis, a Detroit native and U.S. Army vet, continued.

The house belongs to Charles Anderson, a 20-year veteran of the Muskegon Police Department, according to a report Thursday by MLive Media.

When word got back to city hall, Anderson was hauled in and put on administrative leave this week, the report said. City Manager Frank Peterson confirmed to the paper that the home belonged to Anderson.

Reached at his house by MLive reporters, Anderson declined to discuss the case “because it’s under internal investigation” and “they said not to make a statement.”

He did not respond to a request for comment.

Review: Animated ‘Chance’ takes on dog fighting with overly earnest yet well-intended spirit

The CG animated feature “Chance” is a well-intended but heavy-handed denunciation of the barbaric blood sport of dog fighting.
