Intern stabbed to death while walking dog in Washington, DC

A college student who was interning in Washington, DC, for the summer was fatally stabbed in an apparent random attack on Tuesday, police and reports said.

Margery Magill, 27, was walking a dog that she was looking after on Irving Street in the Northwest section of the city just before 9 p.m. when Eliyas Aregahegne, 24, allegedly knifed her to death, NBC Washington reported.

Police and medics responded and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she died, DC cops said.

Cops arrested Aregahegne for the killing on Wednesday and charged him with first degree murder, authorities said.

Police said Wednesday they believe the slaying was a random attack and not an attempted robbery or sexual assault, according to the NBC report.

A relative of Magill told the news station that she was a student at the University of California in Davis, and that she was in the nation’s capital while interning for the summer.

“She loved the city. She loved the energy. She really wanted to build her career here and thrive off of the energy that was Washington, DC,” her sister, Raeann Magill, told the news station.

Review: Animated ‘Chance’ takes on dog fighting with overly earnest yet well-intended spirit

The CG animated feature “Chance” is a well-intended but heavy-handed denunciation of the barbaric blood sport of dog fighting. Convicted rapist killer strikes again after getting out of jail

Christopher “Crazy Chris” Aniades, 62, is being held on an attempted forcible rape charge after he allegedly attacked the victim, according to the city Department of Correction. He’s being held at the Eric. M Taylor Center in Queens on first degree attempted rape, according to the city Department of Correction website. His arrest on Aug. 2 was based on a warrant issued by the state’s Division of Parole. The NYPD and the state DOC said they couldn’t provide details on Aniades’ latest offense. Aniades, who was released on Aug. 20, 2013 after spending more than 30 years in jail, became a poster boy of the violent 1980s in New York, when homicides routinely reached 2,000 a year. He was sentenced to 25-years to life for abducting, raping and killing 19-year-old Doreen Vitale on Oct. 15 198...
