Jeffrey Epstein once showed up to a party at a Palm Beach mansion wearing pricey black-velvet slippers — one embroidered with a screw and the other with a large “U” stitched on it, Fox Business reported Sunday.
“We all got the message,” one attendee of the 2015 fete told the outlet. “Jeffrey couldn’t care less about what we thought about him or who he was with.”
The luncheon took place soon after Epstein was released from Palm Beach County Jail, where he’d served a 13-month sentence for two counts of solicitation of prostitution, one involving a minor — with much of the time on work release.
The multimillionaire financier, 66, was awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges when he hanged himself in a Lower Manhattan lockup Aug. 10.
At the time of the 2015 party, Epstein had apparently been taking a walk around his swanky Florida neighborhood with a much-younger woman when he decided to drop in to say hi to the host, a wealthy entrepreneur who lived a couple doors down from him.
He introduced his tall, thin companion, who spoke with an Eastern-European accent, as his girlfriend, the attendee recalled. Others at the party wondered if she was “legal,” or old enough for consensual sex.
Aside from the “screw you” slippers, Epstein wore jeans and a zip-up shirt monogrammed with his initials.
The party-goer said it was a surreal experience watching as the registered sex offender shamelessly hobnobbed with his rich neighbors and how easily he fit back into the social circuit.
“How about those shoes,” the attendee said he remarked to the host, who just shook his head and said, “That’s Jeffrey.”
