New ‘Pro’ iPhones a delight for photo lovers

Apple fans will soon have three new iPhones to choose from.

The Cupertino, Calif., tech giant is gearing up to unveil a trio of new models at its annual product showcase in September, including two that will be dubbed “Pro” iPhones, according to a new report.

The two “Pro” phones — successors to the iPhone XS and XS Max handsets — will feature a new, third rear-facing camera that will be able to capture wide-angle photos and video, according to Bloomberg.

The two “Pro” phones will also have the highest resolution photos of any iPhone, and will see improved results in low-light situations, Bloomberg reported.

The new phones will also be able to capture three photos at once — and then combine the images to create the best-possible image.

The sequel to the cheaper iPhone XR, meanwhile, will receive a second rear camera, which will allow it to capture true portrait mode photos rather than digitally manipulated ones.

Unlike 2017’s iPhone X and last year’s iPhone XS, the “Pro” iPhone will reportedly feature a matte finish, and will be made out of a new “shatter-resistant” glass that will help it hold up to bumps and drops.

Bloomberg also said the new phones will feature improved Face ID technology, which will allow users to unlock their phones without staring at the screen head-on, and will have beefed-up processors.

Apple is also planning on cribbing a feature that Samsung first introduced last year, which will allow other devices to charge wirelessly from the iPhone’s battery by being placed against the phone’s back.

Sales of Apple’s flagship device have slowed in recent years, with the company receiving criticism for climbing prices of its phones as well as complaints about a perceived lack of design innovation.

The next batch of iPhones will look the same as the previous two, the report said, and does not look poised to turn around Apple’s sales slowdown.

Bloomberg also reports that Apple will unveil updated models of the Apple Watch, iPad, MacBook and AirPods.

Apple shares finished the day off 18 cents Thursday, at $212.46.

Review: Animated ‘Chance’ takes on dog fighting with overly earnest yet well-intended spirit

The CG animated feature “Chance” is a well-intended but heavy-handed denunciation of the barbaric blood sport of dog fighting. He’s being held at the Eric. M Taylor Center in Queens on first degree attempted rape, according to the city Department of Correction website.
