New Yorkers protest de Blasio’s presidential bid in Iowa

DES MOINES, IOWA — You can take the mayor out of New York, but you can’t keep New Yorkers from dumping on the mayor.

A group of protesters blanketed the Iowa State Fair with thousands of dollar “Bills” — fake currency shaming Hizzoner for blowing taxpayer cash on his presidential run — ahead of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Sunday tour of the iconic farm fest.

“In Bill we trusted, in Iowa he fails New Yorkers,” the faux banknotes read. They feature de Blasio’s mug in place of George Washington’s, and scorch him for scoring “0% in the presidential polls.”

He’s technically at 0.3 percent, according to Real Clear Politics.

“I said to myself this guy’s wasting millions of dollars in taxpayer money to run for president when … nobody supports him, and I’m thinking to myself what a waste,” Mike Fischer, a New Yorker organizing the Iowa State Fair effort, told The Post. “So we may as well print up dollar bills and hand it around and maybe he’ll get it.”

Fischer found volunteers to pass the “Bills” around the fair Saturday in advance of the mayor’s appearance there Sunday.

The “Bills” are courtesy of a group of New Yorkers who call themselves the W. 58th Street Coalition. The “Billionaires Row” residents have been tussling with the mayor’s office for two years over a proposed homeless shelter in the old Park Savoy Hotel, which Fischer describes as a “fire trap.”

“He loves the optics that it’s there,” Fischer explained of de Blasio’s plans. “It’s sort of like giving the finger to the people in those billionaire buildings.”

“He doesn’t seem like he’s a very nice guy,” Fischer added.

Previously the W. 58th Street Coalition paid for billboards in Iowa to shame de Blasio into going back home, on the heels of last month’s massive power outage in Manhattan.

“He’s not there for the power outage, he’s not there for the homeless people, he’s not there to help make sure that people aren’t put into unsafe buildings and now it’s time we get his attention,” Fischer said.

Fischer’s group hasn’t been the only one to troll the mayor out on the campaign trail. At both the Miami and the Detroit debates members of the Police Benevolent Association protested outside the venues. They hired a truck to drive around with the message that de Blasio puts “working people last.”

De Blasio has tried to make fighting for “working people” the central theme of his endangered presidential campaign.

Also at the Detroit debate, protesters in the audience screamed at de Blasio “Fire Pantaleo,” referencing Daniel Pantaleo, the police officer involved in Eric Garner’s death.

Review: Animated ‘Chance’ takes on dog fighting with overly earnest yet well-intended spirit

The CG animated feature “Chance” is a well-intended but heavy-handed denunciation of the barbaric blood sport of dog fighting. The title character (voiced by Will Canon) is a dreamer of a pit bull, who believes in a canine god and a peaceful place where “Hatonas” (dogs) can live idyllic lives.... from latimes.com - Los Angeles Times http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-et-mn-mini-chance-review-20190403-story.html>

Convicted rapist killer strikes again after getting out of jail

A convicted rapist killer who strangled a teen in 1981 and was suspected of cutting out the eyes out of an earlier victim has been arrested on a new rape charge, six years after he got out of jail.
