‘sMothered’ stars Cher Hubsher and mom Dawn have an outrageous new book

Cher Hubsher, of TLC’s reality series “sMothered,” is close with her mom, Dawn. So close that her dad once thought his wife was cheating on him when she was just hanging out with her kid.

Unbeknownst to the rest of the family, Dawn had sneaked Cher out of school for a jaunt to a petting zoo. Her husband later found straw on her shirt and made a joke about “rolling in the hay” with someone else. She froze. Her reaction made him think it was true.

She soon ‘fessed up to busting Cher out of school to play hooky — and while they all laughed about it, it was a pertinent foreshadowing: On “sMothered,” which is co-produced by the New York Post, Cher’s husband refers to himself as the “third wheel” in the ultraclose mother-daughter pairing.

In the Hubshers’ new book, “A Bond That Lasts Forever,” the mom and daughter share anecdotes and life advice about how to cultivate a close mother-daughter bond. Here are some of the weirdest moments:

  1. Dawn wanted to have a daughter so badly that she followed a wacky conception plan.
Before Cher was born, Dawn read a book called “How To Choose the Sex of Your Baby” by Dr. Landrum Shettles. It advocated having sex every day except the 11th day of a woman’s cycle. Somehow that would lead to having a daughter. Her husband was skeptical, but as far as Dawn is concerned, it worked.
  2. The two feel they have a psychic connection.
Dawn has been in two bad car accidents — and both times, Cher seemed to intuit them. The first time, Dawn totaled her car when Cher was just a baby. Afterward, when she picked Cher up from the baby sitter’s, the sitter told her that Cher started crying inconsolably — at the exact time of the accident. Then, when Cher was a teen, she had a dream about Dawn getting into a car crash. Dawn brushed it off, but sure enough, a crash happened later that day.
  3. They both smoked together for the first time when Cher was 14.
In high school, Cher wanted to try a cigarette. Dawn had never smoked either, so they agreed to try it together. Dawn put on a leather jacket and told her daughter, “If I’m going to smoke, I’m going to look cool, like the Fonz, when I do it.” They both learned that they didn’t want to be smokers, but they had fun trying it together and “realizing together that we didn’t need cigarettes in our lives. We could simply enjoy each other’s company instead. Love is our drug,” writes Cher.

“A Bond That Lasts Forever” is now available on Amazon.

Review: Animated ‘Chance’ takes on dog fighting with overly earnest yet well-intended spirit

The CG animated feature “Chance” is a well-intended but heavy-handed denunciation of the barbaric blood sport of dog fighting. The title character (voiced by Will Canon) is a dreamer of a pit bull, who believes in a canine god and a peaceful place where “Hatonas” (dogs) can live idyllic lives.... from latimes.com - Los Angeles Times http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-et-mn-mini-chance-review-20190403-story.html>

Convicted rapist killer strikes again after getting out of jail

A convicted rapist killer who strangled a teen in 1981 and was suspected of cutting out the eyes out of an earlier victim has been arrested on a new rape charge, six years after he got out of jail. Christopher “Crazy Chris” Aniades, 62, is being held on an attempted forcible rape charge after he allegedly attacked the victim, according to the city Department of Correction. He’s being held at the Eric. M Taylor Center in Queens on first degree attempted rape, according to the city Department of Correction website. His arrest on Aug. 2 was based on a warrant issued by the state’s Division of Parole. The NYPD and the state DOC said they couldn’t provide details on Aniades’ latest offense. Aniades, who was released on Aug. 20, 2013 after spending more than 30 years in jail, became a poster boy of the violent 1980s in New York, when homicides routinely reached 2,000 a year. He was sentenced to 25-years to life for abducting, raping and killing 19-year-old Doreen Vitale on Oct. 15 198...
