Trent Williams doesn’t plan to play for Redskins again

Trent Williams’ time with the Redskins appears to be done.

The 31-year-old tackle has not reported to Washington since the conclusion of the 2018 regular season. He has missed OTAs, mandatory minicamp, as well as two weeks of training camp heading into the 2019 preseason.

“He’s not coming back. Period,” a source told NBC Sports Washington. “It’s not a contract thing.”

The seven-time Pro Bowler reportedly has issues with the organization, specifically the training staff, stemming from the diagnosis of a benign tumor on his scalp, which needed to be surgically removed, according to the Washington Times.

There are also reports that Williams is not happy with his guaranteed money situation, though those close to him are adamant the holdout is not about his contract.

“He’s in a good place mentally, and he’s prepared to figure this thing out,” former Redskins’ cornerback DeAngelo Hall said during an NFL Network segment. “It’s not a contract thing. And that’s what I asked him — I’m sure he won’t mind me saying this. It’s not about money. Would money help ease things a little bit? Maybe so. But this is not strictly a financial situation that we’re discussing, and that’s what makes it so different and unorthodox and something we’ve never seen. We’ve never had a player say, ‘Hey, get that training staff out of here or I’m not coming back.’”

Washington reportedly will be fining Williams, in hopes that he will return to the team, though the punitive measure may not be enough to help the Redskins in this matter.

Convicted rapist killer strikes again after getting out of jail

A convicted rapist killer who strangled a teen in 1981 and was suspected of cutting out the eyes out of an earlier victim has been arrested on a new rape charge, six years after he got out of jail.
