Two African American Trump supporters who lobbied the White House to help A$AP Rocky are still angry the rapper never bothered to thank the president for interceding in his Swedish assault case, a new report revealed.
The two supporters — Ohio pastor Darrell Scott and Kareem Lanier, who chairs the pro-Trump Urban Revitalization Coalition — met personally with the president and, separately, also spoke with the rapper’s manager, John Ehmann, Yahoo! News reported.
“The White House didn’t ask for anything. There were no conditions attached, but my condition and Kareem’s condition was that all I’m asking for you guys to do is say thank you,” Scott told Yahoo! he stressed to the rapper’s manager.
Ehmann promised in response, “If a serial killer gets Rocky out of jail, I would have no problem saying thank you to the serial killer.”
The rapper spent 33 days in a Swedish jail, and was sprung on Aug. 2. He promptly thanked his fans, his friends, his managers, attorneys and label execs, and “everyone who advocated for justice” — but not Trump specifically.
This, despite Trump personally calling the Swedish Prime Minister on the rapper’s behalf.
“I hope you guys aren’t going back on what you said you were going to do,” Scott said he told A$AP’s manager — who he said promised to put the rapper on the phone with Jared Kushner, then stopped returning his text messages.
“All he had to do was do a two-minute call to say thank you,” Scott told Yahoo!. “Rocky hasn’t even called us and said, ‘Hey, man, thank you guys. I appreciate it,’ in private. Just in private.”
