Yankees’ Gio Urshela doesn’t think his injury is too serious

SEATTLE — In a season that has been dominated by injuries to key players, the Yankees have their fingers firmly crossed that for the second time since Sunday they receive positive news to a big part of their season.

Didi Gregorius, who hadn’t started the previous three games due to a bone bruise suffered in L.A. on Sunday, pinch hit for Gio Urshela in the sixth inning Wednesday after the third baseman left the 7-3 Yankees win with left groin tightness.

“I think he is OK, just got a little tight in the groin so want to be safe with that and hopefully it is something that is not a big deal,’’ manager Aaron Boone said.

Boone was unsure if Urshela will spend Thursday’s off day in an MRI tube.

“I checked on him after the game and he didn’t seem to think it was a big deal,’’ Boone said of the third baseman — who is hitting .331 with 18 homers, 67 RBIs and a .926 OPS and providing Gold Glove defense. “We will see what we need to do with him on the off day.’’

Urshela, who singled and walked, felt the problem running to first base in the first inning when he singled up the middle, but he said he believes he will be able to play Friday when the Yankees and A’s open a three-game series at Yankee Stadium.

“I was able to continue in the game,’’ Urshela said.

As for Gregorius, he walked and grounded out to the right side.

“Didi was good,’’ said Boone, who moved DJ LeMahieu from second to third, inserted Gregorius at short and shifted Tyler Wade from short to second.

Review: Animated ‘Chance’ takes on dog fighting with overly earnest yet well-intended spirit

The CG animated feature “Chance” is a well-intended but heavy-handed denunciation of the barbaric blood sport of dog fighting.
