Man allegedly killed girlfriend days after she posted his bail

A Massachusetts man was charged in connection with the death of his girlfriend — whose beat-up body was found inside their home, just days after she’d bailed him out of jail.

Eric Griffin, 40, was out on the $250 cash bail Jennifer Kalicki had posted to free him from prison Sept. 11, when he was arrested and charged Monday with assault and battery on a household or family member, public records and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said.

The 39-year-old woman was found unresponsive in bed Sunday morning at the couple’s apartment in Tewksbury with bumps, cuts and bruises all over her face and body and her shirt ripped open at the chest, according to a police report obtained by The Lowell Sun.

Just a day prior, Kalicki had sent alarming text messages to her boyfriend’s sister, begging for help and saying that Griffin was “losing it.”

“He’s ripped the door open. Choked me, slammed me to the ground,” one message read, according to police.

Griffin’s sister didn’t call 911, according to Boston 25 — but Griffin did on Sunday morning when he woke up and found Kalicki cold and not breathing.

He said they had argued but denied hurting her, claiming that Kalicki had injured herself.

Griffin was held without bail at his arraignment in Lowell District Court Monday. His next hearing is scheduled for Friday.

The bail Kalicki had posted in his other case, for charges of possessing a Class B drug with intent to distribute, was revoked.

Griffin’s rap sheet also includes a previous domestic violence case involving Kalicki which was dismissed Sept. 9, two prior restraining orders and multiple probation violations.

The investigation is still ongoing and the medical examiner will determine Kalicki’s cause of death, after which charges could be updated.

Speaking through tears outside the courthouse, Kalicki’s mother told local TV stations she was sure Griffin had killed her daughter.

“He murdered her. He murdered her,” Kathy Gadd said. “There’s no two ways about it.”

Convicted rapist killer strikes again after getting out of jail

A convicted rapist killer who strangled a teen in 1981 and was suspected of cutting out the eyes out of an earlier victim has been arrested on a new rape charge, six years after he got out of jail.
